Skype in Windows 8: which is best, app or program?

    My new (bought late Feb. 2013) HP laptop with Windows 8 came with a Skype app installed. My impression so far is that it is not as reliable as the program that's available, a Windows Desktop version; it's aimed primarily at Windows 7 (and maybe WinXP) but, as far as I have determined, also works with Windows 8 as a program on the Desktop. I"m tempted to remove the Skype app and install the program. Anyone care to share their experience on this issue?

    I run the desktop version as well on Win 8.
