Skype

I have Windows 10 Pro and I read all over the web that after the last update it is not working.
It states a dll is missing.

I was told to install Microsoft visual C++ 2015 redistributable x 64 14.0.24215 which I did to no avail.

I have 2 questions:
1-should I remove this redistributable ?

2-any ideas how to get Skype to work?

there is app called skype preview that is already installed on windows 10 try opening that to see if you can get in to skype

 

I opened preview but it did not affect Skype itself. I did uninstall it and reinstall it and all seems fine.
I think MS bought Skype but am not sure.
If I made an error please let me know.
What about Microsoft visual C++ 2015 redistributable x 64 14.0.24215.

Peterr: That is correct Microsoft has purchased skype as soon as they lost MSN Client and chat.

 

I was advised to install Microsoft visual C++ 2015 redistributable x 64 14.0.24215 which did not fix it.
Should I uninstall it, and thank you?

 

I did not edit in time- one MS visual is x 32 and the other x64. I have a 64 bit machine.

 

I uninstalled the redistributables installed today both x 32 and x 64 and Skype would not work.
I uninstalled Skype and installed it from the Skype site and now it works.
Due to the amount of chatter on the web this update has caused a problem for some.
Odd that it worked with the redistributables.
I am and have been up to date with Windows.

 

Installing from the Skype site also installed the x 32 redistributable so apparently the advice to install it was correct.
