    Hi,

When I select the sleep button on the start menus my computer appears to shuts down completely, no sound no vibration yet it starts up again immediately when I move the mouse, so it is sleeping and not hibernating which is what I want.

I have the power options set to "balanced" and to "sleep" if unused after about 15 minutes including shutting down the hard disk etc. This gives me a different result and all it appears to do is shut down the display. I can still hear the hard drive or whatever else running. Also when you move the mouse it is clearly only opening up the display and nothing is starting up in the case as it is already running. I have checked all the "advanced power options" and tried with hybrid "on" and "off" and it make no difference it still just shuts down the display, even after leaving it for up to an hour.

How can I get the timeout to function the same as the sleep button.

    I am using Windows 7 SP1.

we'll need to know the make and model of the computer. Is it a laptop or desktop?

    Hi,

This computer is a desktop made by MESH Computers, which probably does not mean much, and I have no idea of the model.

    Additional info:

    ASUS-SLI DELUXE ACPI BIOS REVISION 1015, 21/10/2005
    Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 - 64bit
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
    Memory 3GB

    Hope this helps.

    Some additional information.

I have had a look at my BIOS settings and they are as follows.

ACPI suspend type is enabled and set to S1&S3. There is no option to disable and when selected it gives the option to change to S1, S3 or S1&S3.

ACPI-APIC is enabled and greyed out and the cursor jumps straight to APM Configuration.

APM Configuration settings are all disabled.

Not sure of this has any thing to do with my issue. I can also add that after pressing the sleep button I hear a click from the case and everything shuts down. When moving the mouse to power up I hear the same click and everything comes back instantly. When the timeout kicks there is no click and no click when restoring as it is only switching the display on and off.
