Slow browsing on some computers but not others

We recently upgraded our ADSL from dynamic to Static IP's in prep for a new firewall/vpn piece of equipment. We have ten computers in the office and all but three of them are browsing fine. The three that are browsing really slowly all have a common item. Under Local Area Connection properties there is MicrosoftTCP/IP version 6 and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) listed and checked. Is there some conflict between these two items or would that not affect browsing at all? The computers are all running XP Pro, all Pentium 4's, and none have too much extra junk on them. Prior to the upgrade of the DSL all computers were browsing equally fast. Any ideas?

Googled on the TCP/IP v6 and came on this caution about halfway down the article -

Install of IPv6 protocol may cause some hickup in Web browsing by Internet Explorer. The issue is related to DNS. When you input URL, DNS is searched to find the address of the host. If AAAA record is found on the host, Internet Explorer attempts to use this address before it uses A record. This is not an issue when end-to-end IPv6 connectivity is available. But if IPv6 connection fails, it may cause some delay in falling back to A record and access IPv4 site. This is a normal behavior for Internet Explorer and we can do nothing about it.

This problem may last for a while even if you get IPv6 uninstalled. A reason might be DNS local cache. Try clearing Internt Explorer cache and restart your PC.

That seems to explain your situation.

Thanks for the help. I suppose I could have done a google search but where is the fun in that? Anyway, I uninstalled the IPv6 and rebooted and browsing on all three machines is back up to speed.
