Slow Computer?

Hi,
I am new to this site, but for the last month of so my computer has been running very slow. I don't know if its because my memory is too full, or if its a virus. I haven't been getting any popups or anything that would signal a virus in my mind, but I was wondering if someone here could help me out with the process. Also, I have a dell latitude d620, and when i close the computer I have to completely restart it when i open it. Does anyone know how to change this setting. Thanks a lot.

thank you, I will try that now. Do you have any idea how to fix that problem with the closing of the screen. I just want to be able to close my computer when i put it in my bookbag for class, and be able to open it and have it run without having to power it off. Thanks

 

May be some type of option in the BIOS. Look in there on next bootup.
Just a guess. I use a desktop, not laptop. Possibly same as Hibernate.

 

what is the BIOS...sorry im not familiar with that?

 

go to your power options on your labtop and then should be under advanced power options. You then have to look for a option that says when "lid is closed" or something like that and change it from hibernate to do nothing.
