I have my aunt's computer for the week and am trying to get it up to speed.

I have been to the malware removal forum and have installed windows updates.

It is running a bit better but is still slow. It may just be what I'm used to but I want to make sure it is fully optimized.

I'm not sure what else I should do, so it would help if anyone had any ideas.

    Thanks.

Some more information would be helpful . . . what version of windows is it using (XP, Vista, 7, etc.). If a commercial PC what is the make and model, and what (if any) upgrades or other changes have been made to the PC. If a custom build, what is the make and model of the motherboard, amount of RAM, type of CPU, and what kind of video is being used.

All this information will help folks here give solid advice about speeding some things up :)

as Spad said more information on the computer would be help although i can still offer a bit of general advice and tips,

this little piece of software is amazing for helping you speed up computers and it doubles a an anti-virus and is free...

you can also try stopping some programs from starting as soon as the computer loads, this helps the computer boot faster and makes sure the PC is not running programs in the background you don't want there.

feel free to ask if you need more help.

Baidu PC Faster is a Chinese program. It does the standard deletion of files and some optimization so the PC seems faster at first. Unfortunately over time the adware and other background programs it installs slow the computer to a crawl.
Do you really think a Chinese search engine is making a free program with no strings attached?

I see in the malware thread that you removed FF with GeekBuddy. That is part of Comodo and can be part of the reason the computer seems slow.
