My bro has been using a lot of torrents lately, I even had to post here to help him remove vundo, which he got from a torrent. Ever since I found out hes been using alot of torrents, I realized it was about the same time my connection got slow. He has a desktop and a laptop in his room, the router is also there, I have a laptop in my room. Ive done scans to check if spyware could be the problem but it seems like im clean. I check everytime he is downloading and its always the same time that im lagging, he also told me that he opened up a port on the router to speed up his downloads. He is a hard person to talk to, ive tried to convey the problem to him but he always responds irrationally, is there anything I can do to fix the problem on my end or do I have to deal with him?

No. You have to deal with him. He's hogging the bandwidth. He sounds like one of my friend who complained about sluggish Internet when he maxed out his download speed with P2P.

Use method called "vice versa" ;). Turn on torrent while he uses internet (don't forget to turn off bandwidth limits ;) ).

You can also tell him about surprising existence of bandwidth limits. General problem is in uploading (usually upload speed is smaller than download) and sometimes limiting outgoing connections will be a good solution both to him and you.

I see it in my own PC, if I set maximum upload speed in torrent, www pages load in about 15 seconds, but if I have for example only 10 kb/s upload (my max is 60), pages load as if torrent wasn't be turned on.

If he want to use NetLimiter, he must install it on his bro machine. By the way, a large amount of torrent clients has badwidth limiting, so NetLimiter is needless.
