I've been trying to figure out for the past few months why my laptop runs so slow.

I've reseated the processor and cleaned old thrermal paste and applied Artic Silver.
I've replaced the hardrive with a brand new one with a fresh install of Windows XP Home Edition.
    I've reseated the memory.

    Dell Latitude D600
    Processor: Pentium M 1.6 GHz
    Memory: SimpleTech 512MB PC-2700 & 256 Corsair 256MB PC-3200
    Hard Drive: Hitachi 30 GB

I'm thinking at this point it might have something to do with the memory.

    Any help is appreciated.

if you think memory may have something to do with it, try booting while using one stick at a time, and see what happens...

After swapping memory and re-seating processor and just about everything else. The problem ended up being that the processor wasn't running at full capacity. There was a setting in the BIOS and it was set for Compatible mode for the processor. Well I changed that to 1.6GHz and now my machine is back to normal.
