Slow laptops

First, I will say that both lap tops do not have any virus or malware that I know of... over time they have just gotten slower and slower and slower and now cannot even dial up to the internet.

Second, I have done all the regular clean ups but there is one special clean up that I think these lap tops need. I do not even know what it is called but I will try and describe it here. I do this all the time on my computer that is a dell but the laptops are Hp and I don't know the other one's name.

The clean up that I'm referring to takes all the files that are pulled up when ever you open anything. Like this one for java: java.exe-392A4E93.pf and it has a little picture next to it. One can accumulate tons of these and it will slow up a computer without anything else being wrong. How do we access those files where they are stored let's say for Hp and delete them so the laptop runs smooth again.

I dont know programs all to well and what could be out there. Specially for HP never used before.

Anyways things I can ask are what are the specs and ram thats in it?
Also what do you mean you can not log onto the internet? Will it not get internet to work but yet you got internet showing its on? Or is it not working totally like infection? Or is it working and just slow?

Your computer could also be infected causing slowness and things not to work properly. You could try this basic maintenance http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=106650 and try those things.

And if nothing then maybe take a ride in the malware section of forums.

You then upload the logs on the forum in the malware section. They will get back to you and tell with set of instructions on what to do. If your computer isn't infected then they say go back to software section. Also the malware section is a very good place to just get checked out and get cleaned up.

 

thank you Silas for your answer.... all the basic clean ups have been done I believe.... I will explain a bit more for those that are confused by my explanations... sorry...

these are the files that I'm trying to find where they are stored so I can call them up and delete them and get the laptops going at regular speed... they are just slow very slow... takes one 20 minutes to just get on the forum... the other will keep cranking for an hour or so and still not make it... they are old and have accumulated files that are like this...

Thousands of these build up and make the computer or laptop really slow. My dad's computer was running slow and he has the same kind of computer that I do so I put in the key word to find run the file and then I hi-lited all of these user files and deleted them and then went to the trash and deleted them from there too. It sped things up nicely and worked like new.

what about checking your window file and see if they are there.
Just look DONT TOUCH and go to control panel - click c:drive - Windows

Like I said do not delete.

that works for the one laptop that is still working... but for the one that cannot access the internet what should I do..??
