Looking for a bit of help...

Running 64bit windows 7, which over the last few weeks has become very very slow....In addition when opening Chrome, i get a few extra tabs trying to open aswell...

One is an AVG secure search engine thing...the address is http://mysearch.avg.com/?cid={9165991E-0614-4FBA-B4A0-82E741FE1D34}&mid=11b0b09c149047d19dbe69e529ba0e88-5ab9f8b67e126ef77f93f2281d2f95462151a497&lang=en&ds=AVG&coid=avgtbavg&pr=fr&d=2013-09-16%2018:26:08&v=17.0.1.4&pid=safeguard&sg=&sap=hp&cmpid=0913a

The other tab says Error 404.

I've ran the 'Fixing Google Redirection/hijacking and other redirection problems' but that didn't help.

I then worked through the malware removal guide....still no luck.

Logs attached, any help much appreciated!!

    Donald

Rerun Hitman and remove all the PUP's.

    Now:

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

If you are still having issues with Chrome, uninstall it. Make sure you uninstall these folders:
    C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome

Then run CCleaner to be sure.

    Report back.

    Hi,

thanks for the help. I followed your advice. Pop-ups have stopped, but explorer still runs VERY slowly and occasionally crashes.

    Any ideas?

    Attached is the JRT.txt

    thanks

You should pursue that in the software forum.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Malware removal from a National Chain = $149
Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0

Uninstall Chrome but also delete these folders:
    C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome

    Then run CCleaner and reboot.

Download and install Chrome and tell me how things are.

    Hi,

So did as you suggested. All extra tabs in Chrome don't appear until i switch off/restart...

When i do this pretty much every time i get the 'windows is updating, do not power down' screen. It takes ages to do this then eventually switches off.

I also noticed right before it powers off completely a blue screen flash up with text on it (looks kinda like DOS format), but couldn't read much of it before it powered down...

Once i switch back on, it says windows wasn't shut down properly and how do i want to boot up...

Then once loaded up and i try to run Chrome....extra tabs are back.,..

    Any thoughts?

    cheers
