Slow PCs are rarely malware issues! And a HijackThis log is not going to tell you why your PC is slow. It is a program to show browser hijackers, a process list, and a few out ot the tens of thousands of registry keys that exist on a PC. It is the last thing we request in search for malware.

If you want to check your PC for malware, the below are the required steps. But you may want to look elsewhere first to make sure it is not just a problem related to what you are running, what you have installed and how you have things configured.


Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

• Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
• Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

• After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis​

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.​

• When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
  • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
  • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
  • Bitdefender - from step 6
  • Panda Scan - from step 6
  • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
  • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
  • HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

 

Please read the directions, I already gave you and follow them. You have not done what was requested. Notice that I had emphasize that HijackThis logs are the last thing requested and in addition you did not even install & rename it properly. HijackThis should not be run until ALL other steps have been completed. Doing otherwise is a waste of time.

 

I don't know what you are talking about but do not start another thread!

 

Again I'm not sure what you mean! Do you mean the HijackThis.exe that needs to be renamed to analyse.exe or do you mean creating a HijackThis log? You should not even be worrying about HijackThis anyway until you have completed ALL the steps in the READ ME and have all the other 5 logs to attach.

Also you should download and use the HijackThis from the link given in the READ ME which will automatically install it into the correct folder (as long as you do not change the defaults) and then all you will need to do is rename the EXE. The link in the READ ME will give you hijackthis_sfx.exe which when run auto extracts and installs (the directions we have written for downloading & using HJT are a little out of date with this SFX version right now). You are using the beta version of HijackThis 2.0 which we don't really want you to use anyway. Just follow the directions in the READ ME and you will have fewer problems.
