Slow thinker and sticky shifter

I have run CCleaner, Defrag, Spybot, Combofix, AVG and MGtools.

This is my work computer and I use it heavily. I've filled the hard drive a couple times with large PDFs and music, but after cleaning I've got about 18% free.

It just runs noticeably slower than it used to, and compared to other computers. When opening things, there's a large delay. When running through pages of a PDF it won't go smoothly, it jerks around.

Most importantly, my shift and ctrl key keep getting stuck....I don't mean physically, I mean I'll be typing anD ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERYTHING IS CAPS....you get the point? Or it'll be like I'm holding Ctrl and I start executing a bunch of quick commands.

On a side note, in my programs list where i can uninstall, there are a LOT of "Windows XP Hotfix" files and "Update for Windows XP" files. Do I need all these?

Attached are the logs you require from Read & Run, except I didn't get a log from AVG for some reason...

    Thanks fOR THE HELP

I have more questions than answers ....

I do want you to use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\HY8734.EXE

    You're logs show:
User: "garovoya " does not exist

And also that under that user there are a lot of items on the desktop ....
    C:\Documents and Settings\garovoya\Desktop\.......?

Have you updated the drivers for this computer?

    Thanks for the response.

I went to delete HY8734.EXE and it was protected cause it was in use, so I stopped it in my task manager, but that just made it disappear from the Temp folder automatically....so not sure if it's really deleted, but I'll check next time I reboot.

You were right about my desktop. Before you said anything, I went through and moved everything off my desktop into a separate folder on C. All I have now are shortcuts. It has made a considerable difference in speed. However, the problem with Ctrl and Shift remains, and I still get the feeling my speed is not quite as good as it could be.

When you ask about my drivers, which do you mean? This is my company computer and I believe they have programs running to update most of my stuff automatically. They run Trend Micro OfficeScan, and Belarc. I may be wrong about these performing updates, but I know it wasn't ME that installed all the windows updates.
Are you thinking I should update the keyboard drivers so that shift will stop locking?

I cannot imagine why it'd say "garovoya" does not exist....that's the username to log onto windows......

Are we talking desktop or laptop? If desktop ...try another keyboard.

Download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    * Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:

    * Now click the 'Done' button.
    * Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    * You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Alright I did what you said. At the end of running avenger, a command prompt popped up and said a bunch of stuff that, to the best of my memory, was something about not finding C:\Avenger.exe and trying to create a log and it was unable and it opened a blank txt doc, asked if I wanted to create new one. I said yes, but all that did was leave me a blank page. There was an Avenger.txt on the C drive though, so I attached it.

Your logs are clean .....what problems are you still having? You also didn't tell me if this was a laptop or desktop ....or if you have tried a different keyboard.

Right, sorry, this is a laptop, but i am using a microsoft wireless keyboard that was brand new about a year ago.

It's my work computer so before I go asking for a new keyboard, I am going to try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Also, my computer is just straight up slow! I've cleaned and defragged and moved everything off my desktop and I'm still lucky if I can start a program and have it open within 10 seconds. Plus, for example, I'll be moving through pages on a pdf and suddenly, it'll stop, and Adobe will "not respond" for a minute.....and then will come back. While it stops responding, I can still change windows and do things in other programs. It just seems like there are too many things running on my computer at once, but when I look in my task manager, they all seem to be "important."
