Slow USB Drives

I recently formatted my comp and all that and lately my computer has been giving me a pop-up saying that I dont have any USB 2.0 Drives (I thought they were 2.0...) and that my devices could perform faster if they were. I use my ipod as a harddrive and they xfer rate is REALLY slow when plugged in to these USB slots and it wasent before.

So my question is, is there a USB 2.0 driver? or some software I have to download to get them up-to-speed?

 

did you install all the proper drivers after reformatting? typically this includes:

-motherboard chipset driver (sometimes packaged with on-board audio, ethernet, graphics, etc) This is the important one as it contains the drivers for the usb host controllers

-video card drivers (if using a card)
-sound card drivers (if using a card)
-additional network drivers for other ethernet or wireless cards
-udpated CPU driver (applicable for amd64 cpu's)

if the chipset drivers are properly installed, are you using the same USB port that you used to?

 

If your XP disk does not have Service Pack 2 on it, reinstall your USB drivers after you update to SP2. USB drivers are usally on the disk with your motherboard drivers. If they are not, you should be able to get them from the folks who made the board.

Thanks, I actually don't have any of the CDs that came with my computer anymore :confused so I'll have to try and find them online. I think I can handle it, but if I need help I'll post back.
