   xp home edition it takes a couple of minutes to shut down and it is a xp 2200 40 gig hd 384 mg memory. is they a way to speed up shut down?

   I think a little utility, mr tech (free) on this site allows for qick shutdown as do a lot of the xp tweaking tools

   Do you have an Nvidia graphic card?
   
   
   If so open services and disable the Nvidia Driver Helper service as its known to slow shutdown down a bit!
