I've done everything requested in the forum and am posting all requested logs. I've posted another message to include the other three logs requested. It's taken me a couple days to assemble because of real life responsibilities but would still appreciate any and all assistance.
First, upon start-up, the computer takes about 5 min before fully ready to work and has an error: failed to load "core.hp.main/application.xml".
    Yahoo messenger crashes often.
I use Nero or Roxio for dvd editing and burning but get locked up TOO often. Can you help me clean the rubbish and get back to good working condition?

    Slower system after fixes....? #3

I'm attaching rapport.txt from SmitFraudFix just in case it helps in finding why my computer is still slow after removing all the malware. Also, CounterSpy finds about 20 adware cookies per scan. Is there a way to minimize that as well?

Note you do not have any major malware problems that are slowing your system down. Your problems may be due to what you are running or due to physical issues with your PC. However we do have a few things we can fix up which will help a little.
    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to Symantec Network Drivers Service
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    • Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the None of the above, just start the program button at the bottom of the choices.
    • At the lower right, click on the Config button
    • Then click the Misc tools button
    • Select Delete an NT Service
    • Copy/pasteSNDSrvc into the box that opens, and press OK
    • If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.
    • Now exit HJT but do not reboot when it tells you it needs to. We will do that further down after running HJT again to fix some other items.
Please run CounterSpy again and this time let it Delete Fun Web Products

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [My Web Search Bar] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\MWSBAR.DLL,S
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/menusearch.jhtml?p=ZNxmk572JFUS
    O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearchBar <--- the whole folder! The name may be slightly different.
    c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared <--- the whole folder!

    Now reboot in normal mode

Now attach a new HJT log

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

System doesn't take as long to boot up accepting the fact that messengers (yahoo, MySpace) account for the extra time. Unfortunately though, I'm still getting error message NDA Error - Failed to load application configuration data from "core.hp.main/application.xml". I have no idea what this is about. Also, I'm getting the end process error for explorer.exe when shutting down or restarting.
I'm looking through forums and what not to find good information on burning movies/music software and codecs. I have issues, sometimes, with Nero and Roxio with video editing; pc locks up. Any advice there?

Both of these are topics for the Software Forum, but the first one is just due to something your HP computer is trying to load at startup and the file is missing. You can probably find something like HP Organize under MSconfig, Startups and disable it.

This is a topic for the Software Forum too.

You can uninstall the CounterSpy trial program now which will help to speed things up too!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    2. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    3. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you for your extended assistance Chaslang. I have completed the processes mentioned. I have EZ-Firewall/Antivirus and IOBit-Smartdefrag. Things have been fine with the exception of the software issue that I'm posting in the software forum after this.
