Sluggish Internet/Firefox

I just did a Windows update on my Windows 2000 (yes... ghetto, I know). It's the first time I've done an update since I updated it to SP4 (yes... neglected and ghetto). After d/ling and installing the 77 or so updates and restarting the computer, I find that my Internet/Firefox is REALLY sluggish. I've checked my Internet connection, and it seems fine. What I mean by sluggish is that if I click a link on Firefox, I would get messages like "Unable to load page". If I refresh it a few times or type in the address of where I want to go, the site will open (albeit slowly). The same thing would happen with opening MSN; that is, I would get some cannot sign in message.

If you require any additional info, please let me know. I highly doubt it's malware, as I have not d/led anything risky recently. Again, I stress that it has occurred after doing a Windows update.

My problem persists. I would really appreciate an expert to help me out with this!! Is there a way to reverse/uninstall the updates?

Someone suggested a program called "PageCannotBeDisplayed.exe". Has someone tried this program before? Do I have to adjust the settings again after running the program?
