Sluggish opening of large files

    I have the real time scanners for Avira Antivir and Spyware Doctor both turned on. When I go to open a large file such as a setup file to install a game the computer will slow down and eventually freeze up. Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to disable both long enough to install the application?

    How much RAM do you have? It sounds like your system may be bogged down with processes, have you checked what running in the background.
