smartdefrag help

ok i no longer want smartdefrag so i uninstalled it....so i thought. it is still on my computer.:confused

 

How exactly did you "uninstall" it?

 

i went to my start menu, went to it and clicked uninstall

 

That is not the way to uninstall any software. This is the process you need to follow:

Click START and then CONTROL PANEL.

In the window that appears click ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and allow the list in the next window time to populate.

Once populated with the names of all your programs, click once on IOBit Smart Defrag, then click the CHANGE?REMOVE box on the right hand side of the software title and follow the instructions that follow to successfully uninstall the software application.

 

ok it wasnt there...so i used the search tool and searched for defrag and found it so i deleted

 

I've noticed with IOBit's defrag that if you uninstall it (even via Add/Remove Programs), it will still be there even after a reboot. If you look in the system tray down by the clock, you'll see their little icon. Right click it and select Exit, then uninstall it. Then click Start, click Run, type msconfig and press Enter. Click the Start Up tab and uncheck the box for IOBit SmartDefrag. Click Apply, click OK, and click Restart Now. Yeah, it's a big pain in the a** but it's the only way I've found to be sure it uninstalls completely.

 

Helpful, thanks dlb. The only time I uninstalled it was when my motherboard and cpu fried. It uninstalled perfectly first time then

 

i went to iobit to download the free smartdefrag and all it does is goes to majorgeeks web pageand it says smartdefrag but there is no where to go to download this,am i stupid,missing it, or is it downloading? can someone help me please,as i have been ooking at that page for over two hours?!!!!!:cry:cry:cryplease feel free to email me at

 

you need to choose a server to download from Texas for instance....
