SmitFraudFix.exe

I am taking the steps as indicated for this problem. After doubleclicking the smitfraudfix.exe, the Smitfraud folder ended up in the "unzipped" folder due to the winzip procedure I had to follow. I moved it to the desktop, but I do not see the window/thumbnail "sff1.jpg" on my monitor, nor in the smitfraudfix folder. Please help...

I ran step 2 in safe mode and the second rapport.txt is attached. The only problem I encountered was with the registry clean. I got "cannot import cleanup.reg: Error accessing the registry." Please advise what should happen next, if possible... Thanks very much, Mike :major

 

After rebooting I ran spybot again and it now only found one problem/entry which was: smitfraud-C.MSVPS (textfile C:\\WINNT\dat.txt). (Prior spybot scans repeatedly found 5 entries). Spybot resolved this latest one and the machine (Windows 2000) is running great with no further issues thus far. Norton scan was clean and ad-aware was also clean. Do you recommend anything else? Of course, the Read & Run Me First, recommended that I handle the "known" issue procedure first, which I did. But I'm concerned the registry clean (cleanup.reg) did not seem to work. DO the logs tell something about this? This is wierd posting to myself...hopefully it is not preventing you from advising/commenting. Thanks for all you do.
