SMTP error in Thunderbird - Its all gone wrong now!

I have a domain name and intended to use the site but never got round to it, instead I have just been using the email address for my personal emails, quite succesfully, for some time now.

Recently we had our broadband cut off (non payment of bill - tut tut) and have been having problems with my thunderbird email ever since.

I was getting the following error message when trying to send or reply to emails: (I could receive emails fine)

None of the settings had changed but I went through and triple checked them, then i re-entered them all, deleted and re-entered them again, still the same error message.

Then I checked for updates for Thunderbird and it said the version I was using was out of date so installed the new version, assuming that there may be some sort of fix for this prob. Since then I have not even been able to receive emails, and am now getting an additional error message:

Hiya - yes I can still access my mail via Cpanel and the domain is still active

Its not one that is provided by my ISP tho

sorry for that - Cpanel is an application :confused that manages stuff for my domain (link to description) - so if I go to my website and access Cpanel then I have all sorts of functions there, one of which is to check mail remotely, others include FTP and DNS settings etc etc - I dont touch any of the other stuff tho as my site was designed by someone else but I can access the mail and mail settings through the Cpanel section.

Its like a management system for the domain, or at least that is how I understand it anyway...?

hes saying that yes his webmail (cpanel) is working still.
