    Greetings MG....
I have a client that is using a Dell tower Server with Windows 2008 Standard as a workgroup file server. When I set this up initially, there were only 3 people in the office and this is how they had it set up before. So, without too much of a change for them, I left it the way they had it.
Now I want to move them to a Domain environment since their practice has more than doubled in size and needs increased security due to the nature of the business.....that is another thread for another time.
I back them up daily to a local USB drive and offsite via MozyPro. I do not, however, have a system set up in the case of a machine failure. I want to be able to take a daily/weekly snapshot (like I do at work with VRanger Pro through VMWare), and have this available in the event of a failure.

Would the experts here be able to give me some insight as to what they use and the ease of use as well as the cost factor. This is a small company with limited funds, so it has to be affordable. I've looked at Acronis, Veritas as well as others, but wanted your experiences with some of these programs.

    thanks!!

    Mike

I use Acronis and swear by it for years, especially in your situation because it allows a complete image as well as incremental changes. They might be a small business but to skimp 50 or 100 bucks is a big mistake on their part. Acronis got bloated and confusing a couple years back but they straightened their course. I have used a few other backups in the past but not Veritas so I can't speak to that, only to the speed and reliability of Acronis. If you go that route, use the "Click to Buy" link on page or or download it form us so we get a small commision. That said, do what you think is best :)

Let me know how you make out.

    Thanks Major....
Looking at the link it says that it's for Acronis True Image Home 2012, not Acronis Backup & Recovery™ 11 Server for Windows. The pricing is completely different as well. The one from the website is $853 and the home version is $49???? and it does almost the same thing?

Why am I not using this already? I feel a bit foolish...... :confused

Good question. I think they obviously charge a lot for the server edition. Between you and me (and everyone who reads this lol) I have it installed on a few machines and have used the same version on computers I used to own however I must advise against it. :)
