    Hello Geeks,
Alright, let's see... my start menu & task bar don't load up when I boot my computer. I've checked the display and they are supposed to. I can't load most of my programs, including 'Help & Support' & 'System Restore'. when online I can't copy & paste anything. I can't drag & deposit files. Any clue? Thanks in advance.

I ran an anti-virus (one of the only programs I can still run) & it only found one virus, which didn't seem to have any effect on things.

Sorry, running XP SP2. I have also run Avast, Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, & none have found anything. Registry Cleaner won't run, Windows installer won't run, and certain sections of the control panel don't work (like help & user profiles)

Have you tried a system restore to a date before the problems started? If you can't access the system restore option via traditional methods, launch the task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and click File, click New Task (run), and type %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and click OK. This will launch the system restore interface and you should be able to roll the system back to a date where things were normal... good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the help.I did run System Restore successfully a few days ago, but now when I try to run System Restore I get the message:
It has the same problem after I reboot it. I also don't have my XP disk (upgrade), so I have to try to fix this without reinstalling. Not to mention my files are on here. My CDRW drive is also affected by whatever is happening.

    And the problems continue...

I tried booting it up in safe mode and have the same problems. The RPC Server (whatever that may be) is unavailable. I am also starting to have internet connection problems. None of my anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware, or firewall have detected anything in scans. I can't create a new user profile because the user profile section of the control panel won't load. In fact, it seems like everything that could help that I know offhand has been disabled, which seems to me would be malware, which I can't find. So, any miracle programs or anything? Thanks!

Anyone have any idea what's going on? I'll settle for guesses right now. The last thing I want to do is be a pest, but things keep getting worse, & I'm afraid that I won't be able to check back here for answers soon. Please help! Thanks!!

Is the internet running slow today (attacks) or is that just part of my problem as well? I seem to be having selective connectivity. I can load some pages quickly all the time (majorgeeks), some pages slowly some of the time (google, myspace), and other pages not at all. Could this be due to any anti virus or other anti (anything) I've installed recently?

On the internet problem just a guess. Try Start>Run>type msconfig On the startup tab look for two separate entries both random letters .exe. So something like qrjkrls.exe. If they exist uncheck the boxes, Apply and restart. If prompted after restart say you want to use selective startup.

Nope, I can't access Start Menu, but I can still get to 'msconfig/Startup', and no dice on the files in question. I previously disabled all of them & still same problems. I think something/someone else is using my bandwidth, because my connection has never been so spotty. That's not my main concern, however. I Need to get my taskbar & start menu back, and get access to my programs, oh and do you realize how frustrating it is not being able to drag n drop or copy n paste?!

    Thanks for the advice!;)

If you can get a command prompt type services.msc scroll down to Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and start it. That would take care of the copy paste bit. Check to see what the start up type is should be automatic.

If you just started using Avast in the last week I would uninstall it.

Most of your programs can be found in C:/Program Files
