I recently noticed that there were some strange programs and files that I never put there before and that my show hidden/protected files option was disabled. So I decided to run a virus scan using my Symantec Antivirus and it found some files and deleted them. Though there was this one virus I needed to stop the process for but I couldn't open the computer in safe mode since I see the blue screen of death for 1 sec then my laptop reboots. I tried running the virus through BartPE and when I checked my laptop I saw many viruses and starnge files, also I saw the dreaded lky.exe virus (it never seems to DIE!!). So can anyone help me, Im using my laptop normally but my viruses keep downloading new ones when I plug in the Internet. Please, can anyone help me?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The below guide should get your PC to a known state, then attach the requested logs as these will if the malware is still on your PC and stubbornly will not go, help the malware experts in aiding you to remove them manually.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
