So proud of those kids!

For those of you who remember the saga of my niece and her husband adopting the children...They have been with us for 3 1/2 years now (officially adopted 2 1/2 years ago). Our oldest girl will be 7 in a couple of weeks, our boy is 5, and the youngest girl just turned 4 on Monday.

Today was parent-teacher conferences; the oldest is in kindergarten, because of how her birthday falls, while our boy is in pre-K. This from my niece:
I am full to bursting with pride! She, being the oldest, had to live with the abuse in their former homes the most, and had the longest way to come to trust us. He ended up with SPD (sensory processing disorder, a form of autism). Oh, and the baby? She's easily a couple of years ahead of her age as well...doing simple math, reading simple sentences, and with incredible language skills.

Just figured I'd share. Because it's Thanksgiving. And I am thankful that my family was given the opportunity to save these three amazing little people from a horrible situation. I am also thankful that they have enriched our lives along the way.

And now that I'm all sappy...here's a recent picture of them playing "Zombie Attack." The older two are about to eat the youngest, who is apparently dead. LOL

Awww shucks.... what a nice story:grouphug

Just came home from the docs after getting some gunk scraped out from behind one eye and also having my nose cauterised for the second time this week and was feeling pretty average :(
Reading this cheered me up and now I have turned my optimism switch back on again:-D:cool

Thanks for that Sgt Tibbs )
    Cheers :drink

Well, that is just beyond heart warming, Beth. What beautiful children and you all are so lucky to have found them and they you.

I remember the story of their background when you were talking about it when they were adopted. It seems everything has worked out as it should.

Nice to read a happy story among all the sad ones. I remember the story and I'm glad everything is working out so well!

    Thank you! :-D

They are turning into the most amazing little people! Even though we still have a long way to go (I still haven't gotten an "I love you" or a kiss on the lips from any of them, and that's pretty common in my family otherwise), they have come so far it amazes me every time I'm with them. They pretty much insist on hugs, and all three of them are constantly climbing into our laps for cuddle time...which given the abuse they lived through is something I really never thought would happen. I never realized how much I took for granted watching kids just being kids, with all the stuff they do that drives you nuts included, until I met them. And now that they're finally confident enough to let people outside the family see what they can do, there's really going to be no stopping them. It makes my heart happy. :heart

Yeah, I'm a little biased. So what. :p
