So whats the truth about Paperport Professional

I installed paperport professional and recently noticed a million programs running in the background all related to Paperport.

I think no big issue I will just open it and remove anything that is checked to start on windows start-up.

Unfortunatly I can't seem to find a way to remove all that stuff.

I googled the programs running in the background and found tons of people claiming paperport is a trojan, virus and spyware.

I love the program so what is the truth.

Not really sure about the virus and/or malware issues; however I actually tested Nuance PaperPort Professional quite a while ago - around 2005 or 2006 (I believe it was version 10) for a friend of mine; and after installing it for him, I found it to be incredibly slow to load - or worse yet: again and again, it would very often completely fail to load at all! The program also had extremely poor responsiveness; even after I got it working properly and finally the 'update service' was constantly failing to connect. Oh yes and additionally, the original so-called "activation service" failed over and over again for days before finally working properly.

To top it all off; another HUGE problem was that after the PaperPort Pro version 8 release, for the so-called "support service" (which is infamously dreadful, btw) they apparently had decided to charge their customers aprox. $10 dollars (per individual contact w/them) in order for them to respond to any problems with their products; even after users have already paid the outrageous price of $199 already for their product! In the end, my friend finally decided to go back to using an earlier version that was far more stable and reliable.

I have had it for a while but basically do not like it and wherever possible use Adobe instead.
When you install it the damn thing installs other rubbish that you may not want or need an example is it installs it's own version of "cloud sharing" which is very slow and also the program does not like the scanner being switched off.

I do a lot of translation work for documents and for the price expected a lot more but instead it is bloated and slower than adobe.

Also it does not work well on a network.
Fortunately i can off-set the cost against my tax but otherwise i am sorry i bought it.
