hurt a fricken lot when you fall into them head first, twice :(

walking back from waitering a party, and in my village there are no lights, whatsoever, and the road i was walking along to get to my house is completely enclosed by trees.

had my hands in my pockets coz it gets a little cold at night round here, and i misjudged where the bank of the road was, and forggot there were stinging nettles there. *owch*

Got up, carried on walking, got completely disorientated, and fell over again. into the nettles. more double owhc. bloody hell., I have stings all over my face and arms, and for some reason my fingers are bleeding.

so im trying to think what I did to deserve that kind of karma!

Ouch sizjam! Try witch hazel on those stings and fingers. I swear by the stuff for all sorts of skin issues and it is completely natural.

Yeah, I've come to grief with Stinging Nettles a few time, and thistles too. Not as stingy as nettle but the spikes hurt.

I think we used to put ammonia or vinegar on the stings, or some such. The sting is caused by little bulbs acid on the end of the tiny spines, that get injected below the skin, when you bush against them.

actually a couple of real quick and easy remedies for the stings are as follows:

    1. crush a few of the leaves of the nettle itself and rub the sap on to the affected area

    2. find some jewel weed, crush some of it's leaves and rub them on the affected areas (Jewel weed also is excellent for poison ivy as well)

Not knowing where Sizjam is geographically I cannot recommend any other remedies at this time but I'm sure that there are others made from local flora.

Bay leaves work, but not as good as Aloe Vera. I got stung by some little yet really venomous bastiges the other day, put aloe on it every day for 3 days before it went away.

    But yeah, YOWch.

Dock leaves work good too.....again, location specific.

I had a friend when I was 9 (never had one since ;) ) and she fell off their coal bunker into a pile of stingers while she was wearing shorts. Man her legs were bad.

Why did I say Bay leaves...? :p Maybe because docks are usually in bays? Probably :D
