software backup issue

I had downloaded Simply Safe Backup 2004 and it did do the backup pretty well. I had to format my hard drive. After I did that I redownloaded Simply Safe Backup 2004. I tried to do a restore but it keeps asking for the first file. Looking at all the files on the disk I can see all have same file name with slightly various different extentions, like *.z02, z03, z04 and so on. There is only one that didn't have an extention, the S.S.Bup. wouldn't read it, I tried adding an extention to the name, but no luck. I tried JZip which didn't work. I've tried some other backup programs to see if they would restore the files. I've tried to get a hold of Cannon Technologies, makers of S.S. Bup.. But, can't find them. I can rebuild the programs, that's no big deal. I would like to get my PDF's & other personal files back. Does anybody have an idea?
