Software Change Resulted in Failures

Over the weekend I replaced Norton SystemWorks 2005 with F-prot.
Since the change my Opera browser has trouble loading - I have to
fiddle with Reload and Home to get it kicked off - and after loading
updates to Lavasoft's Ad-Aware this morning, that program gives me
the blue screen of death while scanning. Eudora and Netscape are OK

Obviously, something in my Win 98SE system got messed up, but I don't know what actions to take. Getting rid of SystemWorks now means I
can't use any of their disk or registry analysers. Are there any suggestions for which resident MS utilities I should try?

you can install everything but the antivirus part of norton system works 2005, just select custom install.

 

Thanks, MelloMan, but the CD is already on its way back to Norton, as
the 60 money-back period was almost over. Are there either resident
MS utilities I could use, or alternatives out on trusted web sites?

 

here's a link for the last free versions of jv16 and regcleaner, they are both
very good programs.
