software problem

my grandsons pc is having problems.
it bootsup ok when in windows a error appears c:\windows\systems32mshzx.exe appears then could not load specified in the registry make sure
file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it.
then c\windows\systems32\msygpd.exe with the same message.
and when i try to open icons like mcafees sign comes up open with
box appears recommended programs .
the computer is an old 1it is a pentium3.
can anyone help grandson very upset as all family photos/music r on it.

Hi

If the PC is working ok once those messages have gone then 1st thing to do is backup the important pic and music files to external HDD or CD/DVD as soon as possible.

Then as this sound very much like malware infection, run the below steps and if the malware has not been cleaned up with the guides steps then do start a new thread in the malware forum and attach the logs gained, the experts in that area of the forum will review them as soon as they can as they are very busy at present.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and once finished please start a new thread in the Malware Forum plus a guide on how to attach the logs HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

Hi

No need to be sorry at all, it takes a while to notice what files are not likely to be legitimate windows ones and those do not, 99.9% of legit windows files are searchable in a search engine, these dont list as many malwares use random names.

See how you go with the malware removal.
