    Hi all,
My issue is software that I had purchased and not being able to use that software on more than say three computers (whatever the manufacturer of the software set it at). If I needed to use it on another three computers then it would need to be uninstalled from the original three computers to be able to do so, at least this is what I have been told. I'm still having an issue in that I think the three original computers have still got something in their registry or somewhere in the computers that needs to be removed because I can't install the software on a new computer now. Could this be so and if so could anyone recommend cleanup software (hopefully free) or a procedure to remove whatever needs to be removed? Or any other way to go about the problem that I'm having. I have noticed on another thread starter in this forum by Pozzydrive in "software" that these two software are usefull, but I'm not sure they are for my problem............Help

    Hi

Yes some software developers have very poor uninstallers that do leave the registration information in the Windows Registry and this even though the apps uninstalled it may prevent other PCs having the apps installed.

If you need to uninstall the two apps fully off old PCs to allow you to put them on a new PC then contact the developers of those apps and they should be able to help.

Or you could try running Revo Uninstaller (FREE) and uninstall the applications using this app as it will also remove any registry entries that the apps make also,

Or as another option, describe your PC issue in detail, with Windows version, Make and Model of PC, if OEM or if not then what parts you used to creat this PC, to the issue thats affecting the PC, and list what software is involved, error messages gained, steps to recreate the issue, etc and we maybe able to help without the need for those applciations.

Whenever I've had this issue I've always been able to resolve it by contacting support at the product website. This type of licence cannot be enforced through registry entries as those entries are not available when installing to another computer. However it's still a good idea to remove any residual entries after uninstalling software and an effective way to achieve this is to use Revo Uninstaller rather than the software's own uninstaller or Add/Remove.

EDIT - sorry David, too slow again ;)

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I will try Revo Uninstaller but it doesn't sound like this is the problem. That being the case I will try and contact the manufacturer and if I don't get any joy from them I will try your last ditch method Davidgp and get back to you with pc detail, software etc.

Sometimes the software calls home and the developer knows how many times it has been installed, so uninstalling it will not do it, you have to get with the developer and tell them so they can reset the count. Like XP, after 3 activations, you have to call MS and get the activation reset.
