    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

    Help!

Hello, I followed your instructions in the malware removal, windows xp.
It solved all of my problems, except.
When I click on my computer: the drives don't show up.
But! They are there, when scans show up, indicating they are still there.
And one last problem! I still have in my taskbar, the bold letter VIRUS ALERT! in all caps, next to the time, can you help me remove that?
    Attached are logs!
    Hijack This!

    Re: Help!

If you followed the instructions then you need to attach the logs the procedure requested. They did not ask for a HijackThis log.

Not if you are posting an inline or even attached logs from HijackThis which the guide clearly states that you must not do. And the version of HijackThis you are using is a few years out of date. You need to run ALL steps in the guide and attach the logs that are requested in the cleaning procedure for Windows XP which is your OS.

Also you started another thread for the same problem which I'm merging into this thread.

A HijackThis log alone is not going to help you. You need to follow the instructions that were already given in message # 2. Once you do that, we will be able to help you.

You never uploaded any logs that I can see other than an outdated version of HijackThis. If you were having problems attaching logs you should have said so. I'm not sure what you mean by booted you out? All I did was combine your two threads into one thread and I stated that a HijackThis log is not adequate to properly clean your PC of all malware.

As I have stated multiple times, the READ & RUN ME does not ask for a HijackThis log and that is is not adequate to help us remove all malware from your PC. If you have run the read and run me you will see that for your version of Windows the below is what you are ask to attach if still having problems. This is a direct quote from the cleaning procedures for Windows XP.
