Software Won't Install

I downloaded the Cucusoft Net Guard reviewed on here and have a problem.

When I try to install it (Windows 10) I get an error message

But I do not have (and never have had) it installed.

Anyone else experience this - or know of a workaround.

While that error window is showing, you must go into Task Manager > Processes and look for a running process that might be associated with Cucosoft

 

As per their website...
Minimum Requirements:
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 7, Windows 8.

I have never installed anything from Cucusoft - so nothing can be running,

Quite a few software packages that stipulate Windows 8 as a 'minimum requirement' will work with Windows 10, but since posting I have found another download location where someone added a comment a couple of months ago saying it does not work with Windows 10.

Shame but obviously the developers are no longer supporting this - possibly because it was free.

 

I just did a fresh test install of it on a Win 10 Laptop. It installed just fine with no problems. I didn't even need to use 'compatibility mode'.
So it most definitely does work on this Win 10 system.
Your error window did clearly indicate a running process was blocking your installation.
I suggest you restart your system, then without opening any other programs at all, try again.

NB: I should say that the site's own download link doesn't work. The only download link that worked was the 2nd MajorGeeks download link.
NNB: It is possible (but not definite) that you have security software blocking the install

 

If MaxTurner says it installs in Windows 10, then it does.

As an alternative, try Networx. Unfortunately it's now Shareware - From $29.00. However, you can still use the last Freeware version - Networx 5.5.5.
Get it from here - I scanned the website with VirusTotal and it's safe.
