Sofware to make a DVD to see on Reg TV

I have a commercially produced DVD made from my old 8mm home movies. I want to edit the films and then burn a DVD that can be played in a regular DVD player on a TV. MS Movie Maker, like the other software I've found. will only produce films that can be viewed on a computer. The few programs I've found that say they will burn a DVD that can be watched on a TV cost the earth. Any suggestions?

um ive made numerous videos,....and put them on dvd's.....ill be honest its been awhile since i had to put a video in the form of .avi or .wmv or .flv onto a dvd but i used NERO,..its brilliant,....nero express should do everything for you and burn the video to a dvd ,....but just incase id recommend (excuse the term) dick around with nero vision as that will also be able to burn video files to a dvd!!!!!!

DVDFlick should be able to convert your finished avi/wmv movie to standard DVD format for free and do an excellent job at it as well.

 

Thanks to both of you. I have the prior version of Nero which I just installed and I've reading about DVD Flick and will download that.
