I've implemented the 'How to protect yourself from Malware guides.

My real-time anti-virus is McAfee and my real-time spyware blocker is Spyware Doctor. I'm also trying to load McAfee Site Advisor to Firefox.

I think Spyware Doctor keeps cleaning Site Advisor off of the browser. However, maybe it's actually being done by the Spybot-SD immunization function.

How do I tell my anti-spyware that this is an OK program?

Is Site Advisor and OK program?

    Thanks.

I think I've answered my own question.

Site Advisor turned out to contain 2 Trojans (1 Generic, 1 Trojan.PWS.tanspy) and some Application.NirCmd infections. I don't think that they loaded until I ran SiteAdvisor on IE7. Apparently, the anti-spyware was doing it's job.

I'm thinking seriously about removing IE7. Seems to be a conduit for badness. Unfortunately, one of my key applications uses IE. But, IE7 causes it to fail in some irritating, but not critical ways. Is IE6 safe?

It appears that the Site Advisor download contained 2 Trojans (1 Generic, 1 Trojan.PWS.tanspy) and some Application.NirCmd infections. I don't think that they loaded until I ran SiteAdvisor on IE7. Apparently, the anti-spyware was doing it's job.

I've scanned and remove the above with Spyware Doctor; then completed scans (2x each) with Spyware Doctor, SAS, and Spybot-SD. No detections noted. I've reset System Restore.

Have I done everything that needs to be done?

    Am I clean?

SiteAdvisor from McAfee does not contain any trojans.

nircmd.exe is not a problem. This file is use by a variety of malware cleaning tools. One of the tools that uses it is SmitFraudFix. nircmd.exe is not part of McAfee.

We cannot answer this since you have not run our cleaning procedures in the READ & RUN ME sticky thread and attached the logs. However I tend to doubt the things you thought you were finding with Spyware Doctor were issues. They are most likely false positives.
