Some sad news from my local race track need some good thoughts.

Need some good thoughts for the family's hurt by what happen last sat night at my local dirt track. I will quote the website for all to read but i am deeply sadden to see this happen. 2 years in a row that someone has died there. What a way to go a tire to the head,

As I sit at my desk at 7:54 pm on Monday September 1,2008 my heart is broken and my eyes are filled with tears.I think that we are all still in shock at what occurred Saturday evening at the track.With a near capacity crowd on hand we all came out to enjoy the big Labor day races,and have a good time as we always dn lap 2 of the cadet feature a terrible tragedy happened.While at full racing speed a tire came off of one of the cars and rolled down into turns 1 and 2 and up on a hill which was crowded with drivers and crews,as well as their friends and family.The tire struck what I believe was 5 people(it is possible there were more)causing injuries ranging from cuts and bruises,to broken bones.By far the most seriously injured was 44 year old Cindy Nobles who took the main force of the errant tire.Mrs.Nobles sustained serious trauma to her face and head which would ultimately take her life.I was one of the first ones to Mrs.Nobles and I can tell all of you that she did not suffer.The impact was so quick that according to her husband she never saw nor felt it when it happened.I am careful about what I write and by whom I get imformation from.Having said that,the husband also told me that he believes that his wife was asleep,as it was late in the evening when the accident occurred.Mrs. Nobles was never conscious from that time until the time of her death.Mrs.Nobles is survived by her husband Rocky and three daughters Courtney,Rachel,and Quincey all of whom live in Danville Ga.There are also many other family members and friends that were close to her as well.This is one of the sweetest families that I have ever met.I was honored to be with them until I left the track late Saturday night until about noon on Sunday.During this time Rocky and the family invited me into all of the family meetings with the surgeons and all of the plans of care that Cindy would receive.Each time Rocky would say “Preacher,will you Pray with us?”I am talking about the hardest decisions you’ll ever have to make in your life.Yet this man trusted in God to help him.I was with him when he told his girls that their mom would not make it and once again this man called on God and stood strong for his family.These are honest God Fearing folks that have been hit with a loss that many of us will never go through,yet they have done it with Grace and kindness.Do you see now why I say my eyes are filled with tears?Today as the waiting area swelled to overflowing this family was faced with the decision that would best serve their precious loved one.As we sat in a small room just a few yards away from Cindy,Rocky and his family once again cried out to God for wisdom.We all prayed and cried again until the Peace of Almighty God flooded our hearts and that little room.With much counsel and support from the doctors and family the decision was made to let Cindy go.We were by her bedside holding her hand and having prayer when she died at approximately 2:30pm today.She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed.Rocky ask that I send thanks to all of you for your love and prayers.I have tried to let you all know what happened while still respecting the feelings of this family.My life has been made stronger by the courage they have all displayed.There are many things that I can not share publicly that will forever be etched in my mind after this weekend.Many of you have ask why so little imformation over the past day and a half?This has been hard on everyone and only God knows the end from the beginning,so we must be careful about what is said,and more importantly when it is said.For all of you that called me, thank you,I know you wanted to help.In time we will all be able to help,but for now please pray for this family.I also respectfully ask that all of you take what I’ve written to you in this article and embrace it as the facts and cast aside embellished rumors that are circulating.If you really want the truth,as God is my witness I have told you the truth.Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of this afternoon when I left the hospital,but I believe the family has chosen Fisher Funeral Home in Cochran.I also want to report that I stopped by to see Steve Daniel today while at the hospital.I talked to him and his family and while he suffered broken ribs his injuries are not life threatening.I saw Mitch and Erica Fulford today as well.Erica was thought to have had a broken arm/wrist but she told me today that the x-rays were negative and she was ok.Mitch has no broken bones but his heart is broken by all of this.Please hold him up in prayer,he has been a life long friend of this family.I will end with this.My new hero is Mr. Rocky nobles and his daughters.Dear sister Cindy Nobles may you rest in God’s presence until someday soon your precious family will join you!I feel another flood of tears coming on,what more can I say about this family when THEIR LAST NAME SAYS IT ALL!!!……With all my love,Pastor Todd

that is very sad. I had to read it on the website though, and even then I kept losing my place with no breaks. I'll send some thoughts their way.

A tire and axle flew off a car and into the crowd, killing 43-year old Cynthia Nobles of Danville.
State investigators found that the victim was sitting in the track's pit area, according to John Oxendine, the state's fire and insurance commissioner.

The victim signed a waiver protecting the track from liability, but the waiver is not valid because state regulations prohibit spectators in the pit, said Oxendine.

He said the track is closed until further notice so they can make make safety improvements, including putting a fence between the track and spectators. Then they must apply to the state for permission to reopen, he said.

Owner Arlene Pittman, who battled neighbors last year over noise complaints, declined comment Wednesday.

Track owners planned their next race on Sept. 13, but Oxendine wasn't sure if they could reopen by then.

State inspectors visited the track Wednesday morning before Oxendine's decision.

The accident also injured Nobles' teenage daughter and two others.

The sheriff's incident report on the accident from Officer Chris Smith says: "I observed Cindy Nobles sitting in a chair with several individuals holding a shirt on her head. I noticed that Cindy Nobles had severe trauma and bleeding in her face and head area."

According to Sheriff Lancaster, the accident also injured Nobel's 13-year-old daughter Quincy, a 15- year-old boy Stephen Daniels, who suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs and 24-year-old Erika Fulford who suffered a broken arm.

Some people we spoke with around Cochran wondered if a fence would have prevented the accident.

Fans viewing the race from some areas of the track have a fence separating them from the action, but most watching from different areas do not.

We spoke with a promoter for Cochran Motor Speedway, Winford Johnson. He says right now a fence is not required but they're looking into having one built for safety purposes.

According to the Cochran Motor Speedway's website there will be no races this weekend out of respect for the Nobles and the families of those injured.

The funeral service for Cynthia Nobles is Thursday at 4 p.m. at Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Twiggs County.

A Flower's Scent in Cochran says they're swamped with orders to honor the memory of Cynthia Pope Nobles.

"We've already had sixty to sixty five and we'll probably have there's no telling how many more in the morning," said Cecilia Campbell, of A Flower's Scent.

Employees said they would work into the night and again Wednesday morning to fill the requests to remember a woman who people described as sweet and caring.

"We are ordering more flowers too just to have cause we know there's gonna be more orders," said Campbell.

One employee says Nobles would send flowers from the shop anonymously to make others feel better on bad days.

Others who knew Cynthia Nobles say she was a kind woman who would do anything for her children and loved to help others.
