Some sort of malware, log-in problems; help?

Big fan of MajorGeeks, I just wanna say that right off the bat.

Okay. I'm posting on behalf of a friend, and I'd really like your guys' input. Here's the problem:

There are two users on this computer. It won't log onto them after one logs off; the screen remains startup-blue. It always boots up. I did system scan with Avast Virus checker, and it found some stuff (trojans) which I deleted. I fragmented and did disk cleanup, but the problem still exists.

I downloaded SmitRem and FixSQ.reg and ran those, and followed the PC Doctor instructions. Still have a problem.

I downloaded HijackThis, the best prog ever, and the logfile is below.

This PC is a HP released sometime in 2004, with a Pentium 4, 512mb RAM, 160gb RPM hard drive.

Tell me what I should delete and what I should not. I can do safemode if needed. Thanks, guys; you're a huge help.

Hi and Welcome

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments. While these steps may seem long winded they are very sucessful in getting your PC to a known state in which the remaining malware can be cleaned up.

HijackThis while good cannot scan and capture all malware, so the other steps are needed first, which is why HJT is the last option we have you run.

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
