Some things appear in Portugese (???)

Yeah, I know the title is lame, but it's all I could think of. XP Home SP2 on Dell laptop. The screen shots below show what I'm dealing with. Some stuff appears in Portugese (or Polish, or something), but most stuff is normal. The green boxes show normal stuff, the red show the different language. It made working on the internet connectivity settings kind of interesting. The second pic is part of the Control Panel and you can see that maybe some software was installed using a different language setting. I haven't been able to figure it out just yet, I was hoping someone here could read the language and maybe clarify my theory of some software being installed using a different language, and how to rectify the problem.

    THANKS!

(yeah, I always seem to come up with the weirdest issues! ;) )

It's Slovak. They appear to be Window's components for XP. Could it be a Slovak version of XP using English language in Regional Settings? In other words if I had a French XP disc and installed it on my system and then chose English as my display language some system components would still show in French. Maybe something similar is going on here?

Slovak.... hmmmm..... everything else on this laptop is running perfectly except for the bits of Slovak here and there. I checked the Regional Settings and the Language Settings, so unless I overlooked something, I think I'll try a safe repair install of XP and hopefully that will fix the issue. Or does someone have another route???

(thanks sach2... I was wondering what language it was ;) )

My PC is Belgian and although i am using English(because i am predominantly on English speaking websites and forums), it still does some things in Dutch, fortunately i can use dutch so it's not a problem for me

I did some more poking around on this bilingual PC and have discovered the problem is more pervasive than I originally thought. I was thinking that either some security/firewall software or some networking software had been installed using the other language since the language was only showing up in the Windows security center, the firewall settings, and in most things where you'd see network settings. But I was wrong. A screen shot below is from Tools > Folder Options. Again, green is normal, red is NOT.
I will try a repair install today unless someone offers a quick fix (a quick fix? yeah, right!!! ;) )

    Thanks.

I was going to give you links about restoring icons for Networking/Firewall since these were missing as well to see if it would change languages but there were so many possible causes I didn't think it was worthwhile. I wonder if a previous repair could have been done using a foreign language install disk? The owner has no idea what happened?

LOL Of course not! It's one of those "my son was using it and he tried to restart it and nothing happened..." type of things. I actually had to restore it 'cuz it wasn't booting to Windows when they first brought it to me. I got it booting again via chkdsk and running a system restore from PE; that got me to the desktop. I was finally able to get rid of the Slovak bits by performing a safe XP reinstall. All is well now :-D
Thanks to all who offered suggestions to help with this strangeness!!!
