ROFL!!! You're right about the shyness. You would never think me to be shy either because I was in sales for quite a while. I have self-confidence and no problem at all chatting, but when someone tries to flirt it either goes completely over my head or I just become too embarrassed to continue.

In my younger days (I'm not THAT young, btw) I would go out to the bars and have a few drinks to loosen me up but now I would just feel too silly! (Besides, I have long since given up drinking. I need what brain cells I have left.) As for being "pretty," that can open up a whole 'nother can of worms and get you into trouble, or it can intimidate the "right guy" while attracting the bad ones. (I'm an example of that too.)

You are right though. We will both find someone when it is time. Do you have a problem finding women who can keep up with you intellectually?

Oh, ok... I guess everyone is just going to leave me by my lonesome. (Nah, I have to go soon too. I am just reading one more thread before I do!) I'm not on the best of terms with my boss right now so I don't care if I work tomorrow or not! LOL!

I enjoyed the chat, G.T. Perhaps we can do it again soon! :D

That's pretty normal. Our business (or "stage") persona is a comfortable role that's not personally threatening. When I was a kid, I acted in church plays, sang, played guitar at church, could get up in front of a class & talk... and still have all KINDS of problems trying to talk to the girls. LOL.

Just means you should probably have more guys to choose from, requiring you to say NO more often. Be choosy. And if the right guy is put off by your looks, go over & start talking to him. (OH! HORROR! :D) If you want him bad enough, you'll screw up your courage & make it happen.

That's never really been a concern. I certainly don't have a lock on the meaning of life, and don't sit around all day dissecting Aristotle. I'm more interested with shared interests and goals, personality, attitude, sense of humor, compassion. Dumb as a rock isn't appealing, but most people don't fall in that category.

G.T. taking lessons and sage advice from dperino?? This is a very troubling and disturbing turn of events,, ;) :)

Hmm,, sage advice from the dperino. Lets see here,,

If you always think what you've always thought, Then you'll always feel what you've always felt.

If you always feel what you've always felt, you'll always do what you've always done.

If you always do what you've always done, You'll always get what you've always got.

If you always get what you've always got, you'll always think what you've always thought.

Then she said get off the computer I need to talk on the phone and IM the same friend at the same time. :D
Got any sage advice for me before I pull out another hank of hair?
BTW, I liked it, it reminded me of this one:
To understand is to stand under

which is a good way to
    Understand :)

To me,, it means that thinking leads to feelings that lead to actions, that lead to rewards for those actions, or the lack thereof, which leads back to the same thinking. It's a cycle that just happens. Thoughts lead to feelings which lead to actions, rewards, and back to thinking. If a person is dissatisfied with what or who they are, ( nobody here fits that category) then changing their way of thinking will be the start of breaking that cycle. Actually,, changing any one of the portions will change the next portion which will change,,,, you get the idea. I am confusing myself,, by trying to make it less confusing,, I give up. :)

Oh no, actually I understand it perfectly. The kids had one on the middle school board that said "The only sure way to fail is to never try anything" or something to that effect, I probably wrote it down somewhere.
I have long lived by the belief/creed that I will learn or try something new every day, no matter how small. I think that the day I don't learn something will be the day I will give up and die!

Evening GT, I don't think so, I think its more of growth, the paths you take lead to something which lead to something which should trigger thought etc. If you don't take risks or think of different paths/choices then you will be in rut. I think I am wording it right. Dean Koontz had a pretty good book like that, It is called "From the Corner of His Eye" - which was a pretty cool response to a q. the kid asks his mom "Is God always watching us?" And she responded "well even if not directly then he is still always at least watching from the corner of his eye" Any way that is all about the choices we make and the paths we choose and how every thing we do affects every one we interact with. I loved it, I was scared out of my wits by "Intensity" (which I didn't finish) and didn't read another DK book until recently. What a girly-girl LOL :D

Random thought (haven't read any of this thread since page 2):

WHY is MG so darn slow today? Sheesh...earlier I had a post I wanted to edit, but it took longer than the 3 allotted minutes to post, so I couldn't. Now it's like I could take a bus to Columbia, pick beans, dry-roast them, grind them, make coffee, and serve it to a party of 27 before a page will load.

Which post are we talking about, 113 or 117?

Dperino's (113) is a perfect circle, preserving and reinforcing what you already know, and what you already do.

My reference to your post, 117, was a joke, hence the wink.

Your post on trying something new every day I didn't see, as I was still writing my post, but I agree with that one wholeheartedly. We should grow and learn until we die... hopefully.

Well,, also, some people have discovered who they are, and have no regrets about that. Some of us will never be as intelligent as others, or be an incredible wordsmith like others,, but,, we do the best with what we are. I have no problem with who I am,, and no idea about who I will become. I am just along for the ride. We will see what we will see. Seeing both sides of the world (The good and the bad) can make a person stronger. At least,, I hope to Hell it can. ;)

I haven't owned a dog for almost 40 years, (a black Lab that I loved dearly) so felt that others were probably better qualified.

You obviously have both a good heart, and a good grasp of training, and seem to be doing all that's possible, with very little success.

It appears to me that the poor dog does show signs of either brain damage or insurmountable trauma and abuse. The fact that he's destined to be a large dog complicates things as well, as a large dog that's either terrified or incapable of understanding what's going on can be a dangerous animal, and unpredictable. Safer to leave a loaded gun around the house, as most folks at least understand what that gun is capable of, and how to treat it.

Cindysnoopy from the forum here had a girlfriend mauled and crippled, almost killed, by a pack of feral dogs a couple of years ago, in a Chicago park that I played in when I was a kid. One arm crippled and probably in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. It was a very close thing. Another lady was attacked and WAS killed by the same dogs in the same park around the same time.

If the poor pup is not capable of understanding, learning, and fitting in as one of the "pack", which is how they understand their family and their role in it, it should be destroyed before it's full grown. As a dog reaches adulthood, it becomes more assertive, and is more likely to strike out when scared. Not safe to keep at home, not fair to risk your family members and neighbors, and not fair to pass the danger off to another unsuspecting family.

CaNoFzOo will likely be horrified, but there have been too many cases of dogs killing people out of the blue with no warning to take a chance on it.

IF the dog starts settling down, shows signs of learning and understanding it's place, by all means keep it, love it, and make it a good home. But don't let your heart overide real concerns about real dangers. You need to decide while it's fairly young.

If it is, then it's only to MG. Every other site I've been on has loaded just fine. And MG is spotty...it'll take a hundred years, and the next click it'll go through. Earlier today I was getting the dreaded 404 error a LOT when I tried to navigate here.

Oh well...it's after 1am and I have to continue contract negotiations in the morning, I should go to bed anyway. :)
