Hi - please excuse me as I may have used the wrong area to post this question, but really need some help. About a year ago an ISP located in Mexico started testing my domain name *afamilyjournal.com* to just test it out evidently. 3 months later they started using it as an addy for their spam. The webhost service did nothing about it. I changed webhosts. 6 mo ago the Mexican ISP seemed to find me again and all of the bounced spam hit my mail box, always coming from AOL people. My present webhost put me into a Pop box for my mail and that worked.

Today, from noon to present time, my mail is being flooded with bounced messages, all saying they are originating from *many fictitious names at afamilyjournal dotcom*. Looking at the source code or where it is originating from all of the addys have *mx.something* in them. I really don't understand this or what is happening. It looks like the Mexican ISP has got me again.

What can I do, where can I go? none of these now say dar@afamilyjournal.com but have all these other names @afamilyjournal dot com.

Any advice? thanks so much Dar

This is what I suspect.. it's actually super simple easy to impersonate any domain name in an email. It would take one simple script and a database full of emails or an email generator. They most likely happen to enjoy using your domain as a spam sink, meaning that any bounced mail gets dumped to you.
Do you know of anyone that would have something against you? and happens to be in mexico?
is there any chance you can forward one of the emails to me so that I can look at the headers in the email. kodo@majorgeeks.com

the only other thing I can say is that you may have to get authorities involved.

    Welcome to Major Geeks ;)

Thanks so much - first of all I highly doubt the person I know of that ancestry would have the smarts enough to know an ISP. so don't think that's correct.

But I'll send you the last returned email at your private addy so you can see what I mean.

once you look at this, then please tell me what to do next and who the "authorities" are.

    later - Dar

    you have mail.

start with your local authorities...they can escalate from there. because, afterall.. spamming is illegal in the US and you can get fined.. so let them know that it threatens your business.

Ever since I transfered from a local ISP to a regional mail server, I get 12 to 18 adverts a day I don't want and about 80% don't even have my address in the headers.
