Someone wants my artwork!

ZOMG.

I got an email this morning from a theater group in Minnesota - they want to license a couple of my photos of East Berlin! How cool is that? It's for a theatrical production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Not usually my kind of gig, but if they want to pay me for the licensing..... I'm cool with that.

Only problem is - I have no idea how to go about it. I've never had to license my images before, so I need to do some research and quickly. They want to use them for a month as part of a slide show. I'm more than willing for them to use the images - but I don't have any kind of template for terms.

Anyway - very exciting. Just what I need right now - a bit of extra cash

COngrats Goldie, I might have some similair exciting news soon (and am also having similair problems as you when deciding how to proced)

 

I would suggest you speak with a barrister for the proper forms, ideas on copyright, etc. That way, you can't go wrong OR get screwed.

All licensing terms should include "time limit" and "geography" clauses; else the licensee will virtually own it into perpetuity, as well as everywhere - and that includes outer space

 

I echo Genusuknives advise, your best and safest bet is to seek legal counsel. But just a note anybody can temporarily protect their images or documents by simply putting the copyright symbol, date and their name somewhere on page.

Aaaaaaaaaha matt.chugg the Geek patrol is out searching for yea now, don't think you have to much to worry about though Halo is leading the group, and latest reports are he is slightly the worse for ware, and is slurring his words. Just don't hide anywhere they serve wine, or you might be in trouble

 

Shh don't tell anyone but I am diguised as a pirate and hiding in Halos cellar, He'll never look there! Plus theres enough booze in here to keep me going till next year (well until tomorrow anyway!)
