    Hey,
I really don't think this is to be happening. The whole time I am recieving email, downloading web sites, ect... I am constantly sending and recieving info. sending is at a compression of 30% and recieving is 2%, hence I can only beleave I have been hit. A couple of days ago I had sysfader.exe issues, however when doing the prelimanary scans it seems to have vanished. However I still have something in here. HELP!!!!!! My life is slow enough being dial up  , I need the speed I have.

    Thx,
    Kevin

    Hey,
I have completed all tasks, except the online scan. According to the meter at Trend's Micro it would have taken 31 hrs. Can't do that. All has shown up clear however I am still constently sending and recieving info while I am online. Attached find the hijack file. I could not find the .log file. Hijack this put me into text edit which as you are probably aware, only allowed me to save as .txt

    Hope this is okay,
    Kevin

Download this trial version of Ewido Security Suite

    • Install ewido security suite
    • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
    • The program will have a window come up. One of the buttons on the left is to Update. Click the Update button.and then Start the Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    • After it completes the update, click the Scanner button

Now exit Ewido. Now print the below instructions or save them locally because I want you do have no browsers opened and also have no connection to the internet (unplug your cable) while doing the below.

Okay, reboot into safe mode and follow the steps below. (If you have any problems at all trying to get into safe mode to complete these steps, just run them in normal boot mode and make sure you tell me when you come back.)

Open up Ewido and do the following:

    • Click on Scanner
    • Then click Settings
    • Under What to Scan? Select Scan every file
    • Then click OK
    • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will start.
    • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files that are infected. Leave the defaults selections (to Remove and backup) and click OK. To save yourself some time, you can select Perform action with all infections and then click OK. With the option to scan every file, a lot of cookies will be removed.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

    • Click Save report
    • Save the report to your desktop or anyplace you will be able to find it to upload here.
Reboot into normal mode and reconnect to the internet.

Come back here and post the Ewido Scan Report along with a fresh HJT log.

    Hey it is me again,
I have a question. Within the last week I have had system fader.exe return and I still have not run the online scan due to time constraints. I am dialup and have about 300gb of data on my pc (i am in the media field). To do the online scan will take me about 80 hrs. and the whole time I am downloading I am uploading do to malware. The question is: Should I reformat and reinstall xp. It takes a couple of days to fit in reinstalling all my software, but will it me quicker and safer.

    Kevin

  13. bjgarrick

bjgarrick MajorGeeks Admin - Malware Expert

It's up to you whether you format or not but let me say this, we can clean your computer without this if you choose to. Being on dialup does make it harder because it takes longer to download updates and such.

    Let me know!

  14. buckaroobanzia

    buckaroobanzia Private E-2

I don't know what to do. I would prefer not to reformat, however 30hrs to do the online scan, and the whole time I am doing it something is uploading. It is truely pissing me off for my work files, which take forever to upload to servers and clients, as well as my gaming. My ping is bad enough already. Will reformating work? Will the virus (or whatever it is) stay within files in my documents? Is it a waste of time? Could I not scan certain files as I have some photo manipulations that are 300Mb - 800Mb?

    I am at a loss,

    Kevin

Formatting will take care of everything, however it will be a pain because you would have to backup, reinstall and so on. If you choose not to, we can clean your computer, but it may take some time to do so.

If you want to clean your computer without a format, attach a current HJT and we will go from there.

lets try and we will see how long it takes.

Question. You have had me install many spyware programs and the such. Now they are all starting up at start up. Which should I let run. I own Dr.Spyware and have MS spyware, trojan hunter, and something else starting up at the beginning. With all of this I also have Norton Internet Security 2005 running.

Here is my HJT log. Let me know.

    hey,
test done and complete. There is nothing found on either program. I still show a 13% compression and 74,785 sent when all I have done is loaded your website. Nothing is moving now, however should I not be a 0-1000 bytes sent. I am not sure, and needed to ask.

I have edited this because as I sit here the compression has increased and so has the bytes sent. *&$#

    Kevin

Do you want a new HJT log. Should I update os?

    Hey,

this all started because I noticed systemfader.exe popping up every now and then as well as the whole time I am downloading things such as emails, I am constantly sending information as well. I did not think that if I was recieving emails that I would be sending information as well. It looked like that was happening again yesterday, however today it seems better (don't ask me, must have been some bad crack :> ). To resolve this in my mind. While I type this message and have nothing else running my sent bytes (in my connection status window) is slowly increasing with the compression of 29%. Is this normal? I have pretty much sent out an extra MB of info while typing the message. I would assume that if all I am doing is typing this message and there is no website loading or emails being sent, then there should be no information being sent from my confuser. However as I said there seems to be a constant flow of data transfer.

I hope I have made myself clear.

    Kevin

This doesnt seem to be malware related, however anything is possible. What I would recommend doing first off is to post this issue in the software forum and see what those guys can come up with. If needed you will be sent back here.

    Good Luck!:)
