something ate my lg dvd cdrom drivers

I do not know what got downloaded, but now I have corrupted lg dvd/cdrom driver , cd driver , and usb driver..... Of course there's never anyone available on the weekend for the 1-888#...I took a look at the procedure laid out by the company but I'm a little confused regarding hooking up the dvd/cd rom as a master and unloading everything that auto loads in xp before trying to install a new driver....they tell me that any deviation from the procedure can ruin my dvd rom....anyone know anything about these things...or heard of this thing happening.....
since I'm not very knowledgable about these things I'd like to know how to uninstall the drivers that are corrupt...I can't seem to find the drivers in windows or anywhere else to remove them..
Also when I was on msn...my friend said that I was coming up on her screen as dwarre 15 instead of with my hotmail address....any answers would be helpful.... and maybe I can get things fixed .before anything else attacks...

was hoping someone could tell me if they had experienced or knew about a virus or infection that might cause this so that I would be able to prevent the next onslaught.
