something call wild tengant

i have something called wild tangent on my computer and i think it got on there when i downloaded aol instant messenger

i brought my laptop home on oct 8th 2004 and after i downloaded aol instant messenger i found it on my control panel

i searched my computer for wild tangent and it shows it was installed on oct 8 04

i wanna know if this has spyware or malware on it and i wanna know if this is an important program i might need for game playing on my computer

i think i posted this in the right spot but if i didnt can somebody please move it oh and thanks in advance

Wild Tangent is installed as part of AOL IM, so you can play the AOL games, now is it spyware... debatable, while not strictly spyware/malware it does have built in components to update itself and some hardware info off your pc like CPU speed, memory, video card used.

oh and does wild tangent zap my memory or cpu im gonna take off wild tangent but how do i do that

Dont get what you mean about "zap" cpu or memory, it doesnt do anything to them apart from check info on what they are.

But if you want to remove it and dont want to play the AOL games.

or manual removal instructions,

Manual Removal of Wild Tangent

1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
2) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs
3) Click on the WildTangent selection and Change/Remove, Uninstall, or Add/Remove depending on the operating system. Then follow the onscreen prompts to remove the WT Driver.
4) Now run Hijackthis and fix or Remove the following line (if it exists)

04 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

You may also have to use Hijackthis and remove the above line if you receive the following error message after using a spyware removal product to try to remove WildTangent

Error Loading C:\Program Files\WildTangent\apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400dll
This specified module could not be found

Follow the rest of these steps if the Control Panel icon or WildTangent folders still remain.

5) Remove the Wild Tangent Driver from the Control Panel if it still exists

Click on Start, Run and type REGEDIT and press Enter
Click on the Plus signs (+) next to the following sections
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Control Panel > Cpls

In the right hand column find the line for wtControlPanel, right click on it and Delete it close the Windows Registry
6) Delete the WildTangent folder in Program Files and Windows

Open My Computer
Double-click on Drive C
Double-click on Program Files
Right-click on WildTangent and choose Delete (if the folder exists)
Go back to Drive C and double-click on Windows
Right-click on the WT folder and choose Delete (if the folder exists)

yay halo thank you thank you thank you

i removed wild tangent from add/remove program but the driver was still on the control panel so i restarted my computer and then went back to check and it was totally gone from my control panel yay
