anyone that can help with my mysterious problem is a champion!
i recently had an issue with my onboard realtek souncard.
it just stopped working out of the blue!
im far from computer illiterate and my pc has never been running better

ok so the problem! my sound device stopped working. so i checked my device manager etc. the device was "working properly" and yet it did not show that there was an available sound device to use. i decided maybe just restart. and i did.
the computer logs on and made the normal log on sound but yet it still not there an none of my media players could make any sound. no mixer etc.

i unistalled the driver all my codecs everything.
    restarded. reinstalled. it worked.
    then it stopped working again.
so i uninstalled the driver again and put a pci soundcard and disabled the onboard one thinking maybe this old piece of shit motherboard had finally popped somewhere.
installed the pci card. worked fine.
now today 2 days later its no longer working properly.
the same as before. yet so strange that now! i cannot uniinstall it. even after running CCleaner and uninstalling it from there. and deleting all the files from the registry etc i restarted and for some baffling reason its there and worked fine!? :O
    THEN! IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN!?
this is the most unknown problem i have ever encountered in my years of home computing.
whoever put the time aside to even read this... tell me what ya think!
    peace!:wave

Try installing the sound card in another PCI slot?
    Sounds like a IRQ conflict

Do you have any two-way chat software or anything like HDMI Audio?

Check to see if Realtek or your sound card is set as Default audio.

whoa baby i some serious shit is going down with this machine.
i cannot access my firewall and i cannot access my hardware device manager
"MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc
this may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file."

that is just the biggest load of bullshit message windows has ever given me! how gay.

well i re registered the msxml.dll files and fixed that one problem regarding the device manager. but this sound card problem is something that will give me a bold spot on my head and most likely yours aswell from scratching your head.

I would start here:MG Malware Guide

When you get the all clear then we can give your sound a try.

i already run all the cleaners and scans once a week... its what put me onto this site. i have been a long time reader of everything on here this is like my 1st time i couldnt actually find anything to solve my problem. it seems like it is malware but i cannot figure out where it is. svchost.dll is running upon start up and uses much more memory than it needs and i have searched for it but only my legit one comes up... i think it uses different names... like .dat files or something involving a shitload of numbers. this may be the cause for a few of my problems. as every trojan before it i have dealt with swiftly on my own accordance with help from a little bit of reading. but this time is different. like a freak of computer nature.

Won't hurt to make sure it's not malware. Not all malware is easily found and contained.
    But.....

Post a make and model # if your PC is manufactured (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.) or your motherboard ID, if it is a build.
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.
