Something is KILLING my Panda!~

Sorry, gentlemen and ladies.... new to posting to the forums. Forgive me if I am in bad form in any way. Okay.... here's the poop:
I am trying to follow the steps in READ & RUN ME FIRST. I tried to run Panda Active Scan in safe mode and it just stopped before finishing. Same thing when I tried in normal mode. I tried a third time going directly to the site and running it from there, not via your page..... same thing.... it just quits before the scan can finish, closes all active windows and leaves me staring at my desktop!!??
This concerns me that whatever might be invading my pc is more insidious than I thought (or is it a flash of paranoia??? heh). Thanks in advance for reading and responding. I have followed steps 1-5 and have stopped, obviously, at the panda scan.

Tell me where to start again or how to change strategies if you will.
