Something weird still going on

    Dear Saviour! :)

    Yesterday my Win-XP computer suddenly shutdown by itself in just a second while I was surfing the internet on well known sites and forums I often visit, I saw a pop-up window with the word key-logger in it before shutdown. I have no idea what that was.

    When trying to restart the computer, it was not possible, the file named <system> was either lost or corrupted. After hours of work I managed to get the computer to start again. I replaced the <system> file with an old one, followed by all related five files (system, software, sam, default, security). This somehow added an unkown password to the admin account locking me out of the computer. Luckily I managed to restore the original five files, the ones that did not work, but then it suddenly worked fine!?. However, lots of problems with programs and processes starting themselves was the result, clearly a serious infection of some kind. I've run through your whole malware removal procedure, with quite a lot of problems getting things to run. In the end everything went through but superantispyware was run last because it was not possible to install due to a reason not listed in any of the hints. Afterwards it was possible to install.

    Superantispyware only found a few tracking cookies, nothing else. I have also installed Antivir AV and Comodo firewall (with AV disabled as I run antivir) on your recommendation.

    The computer is running better now, but something's still weird. Suddenly when I started Firefox antivir found trojans in a lot of files in the system32 folder, one after the other in the same pace that I managed to klick ok in the antivir boxes. That particular problem disappeared directly when I killed firefox through task manager, repeated this 3-4 times same thing. So I suspect something is still there. But Antivir and superantispyware does not find anything when I scan the system32 directory! Now running IE, no problems so far.

    I have attached the log files from the malware removal procedure, if you would check them and let me know if there is something more I should do I would be very thankful!

    Thank you

    Thomas

    Update

    After writing the above post, I restarted the computer. During startup Comodo firewall pops up a warning that the program syntpenh.exe is trying to create a directory and file that I recognize as previosly removed infected stuff. Also a popupwindow saying that Error loading tmpAA5.tmp, which I also removed earlier as infected. Shortly after Antivir finds syntpenh.exe as carrying TR/Spy.ZBot.yvh trojan and the comodo popup dissapear when the antivir window pops up. Shortly thereafter a window "Dial-up connection" appears, some application clearly would like to access the internet. I am writing this on another computer, the infected one is not connected.

    After 24 hours of intense work this is beginning to get on my nerves :/ Where's that sledgehammer...

    Any advice would be incredibly appreciated.

    Thanx Thomas

    You have both Avira and Avg.....uninstall one!

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    RenV::

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi TimW

    Thanks for your help!

    Here's the results after following your instructions.

    I disabled Antivir before starting (last antivir update yesterday, btw)
    I did not disable Comodo firewall, as the instruction said disable AV and antispyware and since I was online to allow Combofix to update.

    Even so Combofix warned Antivir was enabled. I double checked it was set to disabled and then tried to shut down through task manager but was not allowed. Figured I'd disable antivir startup and restart, but as things was already running I let it continue rather than stopping combofix in the middle of everything. I disabled comodo early on as well as it warned for everything over and over.

    Combofix did not ask for an update as far as I noticed, it ran on, restarted the computer and created the log file. I then ran mglogs.bat

    I've been using the computer since I wrote the first message and have not seen any problems since. I think I have managed not to run any malwares that may still be on the disk.

    I have attached to logs.

    Looking forward to your verdict :)

    Thank you

    Thomas

    You need to tell me what these are:
    C:\hama
    C:\jaguar
    C:\kara
    C:\nisseman

    as vundo is hiding in one of them.
    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Please Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

    * Run Spybot and click Mode
    * Select Advanced Mode.
    * Then click Tools and select Resident.
    * Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
    * Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks
    * and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    * Now quit Spybot!

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
