Son forgot his password for vista

i have tried a couple of different way's to crack password nt is asking me for the registry path regarding windows disk
i have been suggested /windows/system32/config it did not work
i have tried %systemroot%/system32/config it did not work
i have tried orhcrack it cracks into it but does i don't know how to reset password if i even can through here.
can someone please help:-o

I believe that in vista, if you start the computer in safe mode, you can log into the administrator account. Maybe he did not set a password up for that account. If you can get into the administrator account, you can remove your son's password.

 

i tried the f8 route and yes it comes up with a password box which i cannot access
thanks for responding though future shop said something about a samurai program they use but i'd have to bring it in for 29.99
i like to try and solve this one with help from you people first.

 

i have a program i don't remember where i got it from but i used it before when i forgot my vista password it works amazing it grabs any user on the computer and decodes the password for you and shows you what the password is i would have to find the disc and burn it to an iso image if that is any help let me know if your interested i'll look for it

thanks guys, Just Playin that is the program i first tried i get to step two and it asks me for the path for the registry directory (relevant to windows disk) and i'm stumped there. i tried the above windows/system32/config
and it doesn't work, am i doing it wrong?:confused

and wam... if you could find your program it would be great.

 

You will need to get professional help to crack this password. Shouldn't cost more than an hour.

Alternatively you can do a factory restore of Vista.

brought vista in to shop to get cracked for 20 bucks, and guess what they forgot their disk in my sons laptop... don't ya hate that when that happens

 

Hirens cd has an active password changer which works with Vista, had same problem and it worked for me, now keep all passwords safe.

 

In your post you said you tried "orhcrack", did you mean ophcrack? the boot CD? It will reveal the password so you can log in -"it cracks into it but does i don't know how to reset password if i even can through here" - if you have the password via ophcrack you don't need to change it, you can use it to log in & change the password in Windows.
