sony usb media player problem

I just bought a sony usb media player and am having problems trying to connect it to my TV. I followed the setup instructions (using a hdmi cable) but I keep getting messages saying "device not supported:.
Can anybody help me please (using words of one syllable because i am a complete novice at techy stuff)

Not all LCD/Plasma TV's fully support USB devices. If it's telling you "Device not supported", then it probably isn't fully compatible with the TV's input.
Don't know which model Sony Media player you have, but supposedly USB Playback (MP3/JPEG/DivX/AAC/WMA/LPCM/MPEG-1/Simple MPEG-4) formats are supported.

 

Yes, that info would help us help you. Also, if you're tying to input through the HDMI input source, try the 'Multimedia' input source as it is likely to be recognized as a USB multimedia device.

 

Thanks so much, but managed to solve the problem. Apparently Sony player didnt recognise the format of the little HD..So I reformatted that to FAT32 with a program called EASEUS Professional, and it now works fine.
