sony vaio pcg-fr315b

:cry switched it on this morning,just the vaio screen and Intel logo,swapped the ram with known working one,:cry,sometimes i can hear the h drive clatter for a second and then 1long beep then 3 short ones,taken battery out,just used mains,the cd drive opens,the led lights come on,but not the hd led,no light on the floppy when disk inserted,i don't have a spare hard drive to try,:cry,this laptop had its motherboard replaced while still under warranty 2 years ago,does this sound like the end.any help, much appreciated.

 

Very vague information. Have you checked the BIOS to see if the hard drive is recognized? Do you get any errors? Try downloading the diagnostic tool from your hard drive maker's web site and use it to see if the hard drive is healthy. If the PC reads and boots from CD's, then the motherboard is probably OK, and the hard drive may be failing. Try booting to your Windows CD just to see if it will recognize the hard drive, you can do a safe repair installtation, or just back out after you know if the hard drive is being 'seen' correctly.

 

sorry about vague information,i cant even access the BIOS,cds will not boot from the cd drive,i cant really say anymore. thank you.

 

issue resolved, dead motherboard, any one got one?
