All I did was close the lid (maybe I closed it harder than I though) and when I opened it, it was like that.. it probably didnt help that I knocked it off a chair the other day either LOL

Is it cracked? What does the display look like if you could describe it?

@ abz.. the LCD is cracked, not the actual screen itself. If that makes sense.

Woha!..That's pretty much the most trashed LCD screen I’ve seen in long time! There are supposedly little pads around the edge of the lid on most models to stop that sort of thing. - I'm assuming it aint insured for being smashed by 'The Hulk', eh?:eek That's a tough break, Dy.

looks awful, like the liquid crysals all leaked and the screen melted.

I once scared my mom by putting a "melted screen" screensaver on her computer.

 

OMG, what did you do??? Seriously. It's a serious question, neither closing the lid firmly or knocking it off a chair should have done that to a laptop. Unless you threw it off the chair and then jumped up and down on it?

Um, no. I can't picture you doing that too any computer. Not even to an eMachine.

That sucks that your laptop is all horribly broken... is this covered by warranty at all, or do you need to look at getting a new one?

I got a gateway lappy with an intact screen, if that will help! Motherboard fried out in it . . .

If that isn't real - and is a screensaver or something, I want it!

No, Mimsy.. I neither threw it or jumped on it..I did exactly what I said I did One of the Dell guys I chatted online with said right before he transfered me to tech support was the screen was already cracked to start with (I bought it as a referb.) How I wish I caught a screenshot of him saying that!

Its not covered under warranty (big surprise rolleyes) So Im gonna make an attempt to fix it myself.. All I have to do is replace the LCD screen and Dell have very detailed instruction onto how do that. Wish me luck :-D


@ Spad -trust me its not a screen saver thank you for your offer but mine is a Dell and I dont think they are interchangible :-D

Aw, that sucks. Can they email a a log of the chat? My company saves everything, and our records go back years and years. If you talked to one of my coworkers all I need is the email address you provided to the chat and I can get you that log in less than a minute.

So sorry Dya, that's a bummer, get a background like a broken sidewalk and change the window size so it will not bother you as much. Sorry, don't know what else to suggest till you can fix it.

I would give Mimsy's idea a shot. I've always had good luck dealing with Dell re product and parts, even if they just send the screen it would save you some money.
